Open Spaces/Dining Area Rules & Regulations
The Student Center's open seating areas provide space for Mt. SAC students to relax, study, eat, meet, work on collaborative academic projects, etc. The dining areas provide a space for students to enjoy their meals while relaxing and meeting friends. We strive to provide an inclusive and supportive space where students can build community in a safe and comfortable environment. Students, staff, faculty, and community members are welcome and subject to all College policies, regulations, and operational procedures (see BP/AP3900, BP 55000, BP6700, and ICC Constitution below).
For Mt.SAC Student Use
- Open spaces can be used to study, meet friends, and unwind between classes.
- Please be mindful of other students who are using the space to study.
- Open Spaces are not to be used for any campus affiliated meetings, or events, unless otherwise approved by Student Services.
- No promoting, passing out or posting flyers is permitted in the open space areas. A designated space is available by the Information & Resource Counter on the second floor for campus affiliated flyers.
- Students are given priority in the dining areas for food consumption.
- Food is allowed inside the Student Center, but please let's keep this center clean and beautiful by picking up after ourselves.
- Treat all chairs, sofas, and tables gently to preserve them for others to enjoy. Avoid moving furniture.
- Open areas are not to be used for un/official meetings by student clubs for any purpose. Check with the RSCO Co-Lab Space Bldg. 410 Rm. 2085 (909) 274-5959 for help reserving rooms on campus.
- Due to the nature of the building, noise echos easily around the building, so please be mindful of loud conversations.
Student Conduct
- Students are expected to follow the College policies and rules.
- Any student engaged in disruptive or inappropriate behavior can and will be instructed
to leave and a Misconduct Report will be submitted to the Student Life Office.
- Continuous or persistent disruptive conduct/behavior or willful disobedience may result in asking for your ID, removal from the Center and reported to Police & Campus Safety.
For Community Member Use
- The Student Center is considered a non-public forum.
- Please be mindful of students who are using the space to study.
- Food is allowed inside the Student Center, but please pick up after yourself.
- The center is not to be used for un/official meetings by any groups not associated with the college and without permission.
- Due to the nature of the building, noise echos easily, so please be mindful of loud conversations.
- Open Spaces are not to be used for any non-campus affiliated meetings, or events.
- Outside vendors are prohibited from marketing, promoting, selling, or otherwise offering
their goods or services for consideration
by students, faculty, or staff. - Any community member engaged in disruptive or inappropriate behavior will be informed
of the infraction by staff and be expected to stop the non-compliant behavior.
- Continuous or persistent disruptive conduct/behavior or willful disobedience may result in asking for your ID, removal from the Center and reported to Police & Campus Safety.
