New Police Vehicles Rolled Out

Motivated to increase visibility and deter crime, Mt. SAC鈥檚 sworn police officers
will now be monitoring campus in three new black-and-white vehicles like those commonly
used by outside police agencies.
鈥淲e want our campus community to be able to distinguish between sworn police officers
and non-sworn personnel responding to calls,鈥� said Police and Campus Safety Chief
Kelli Florman. 鈥淚t鈥檚 important for people to know that Mt. SAC has sworn officers鈥攏ot
just campus security鈥攐n duty to ensure their safety.鈥�
鈥淭here is no need for students, faculty or staff to be alarmed if they see this type
of vehicle,鈥� she added. 鈥淚t simply means that one of our sworn officers is nearby.鈥�
Non-sworn officers will continue to use the white vehicles the campus is used to seeing,
Florman said.
