Electronics Communications
Certificate of Completion
#24210
In addition to courses in electronics fundamentals, the Electronics Communications certificate program聽encompasses the study of both wire-based and wireless forms of analog and digital communications聽systems. Among the topics covered are amplitude and frequency modulation, multiplexing, antennas,聽transmission lines, and radio-wave propagation, as well as microwave systems, including radar and satellite聽operations, and computer networks.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Students will be聽able to read and analyze DC, AC and other active device schematics for voltage, current,聽impedance and power quantities, and compare them to measured values.
- Students will demonstrate proper use of electronic test equipment and associate measurement results with circuit聽behaviors in the laboratory.
- Students will calculate and measure various modulation characteristics using a variety of modulation principles.
- Students will understand microwave components and circuits, transmission lines, Smith Charts, impedance聽matching, antenna characteristics, wave propagation, frequency analysis, and measurement聽techniques.
- Students will be prepared to take the National Association of Radio and Telecommunications Engineers license聽exam.
- Students will use these results of both empirical and calculated unknown electrical parameters to assess or聽troubleshoot faults in circuit and system operation.
- Students will聽understand Standards, terminology, design, implementation, and troubleshooting techniques as they聽relate to both local and wide area networks.
